X-MAS POEM by: (me :)
The light of a Christmas tree
In the corner of a lonely room it stands,
Its glimmering essence all a-glow,
So simple and so plainly seen
its face it boldly shows
Its inner lights sparkling bright,
Like diamonds in a sea of green,
Their tiny bodies scattered and shining
a fire we cannot smother
glassy balls of red and green,
shimmering in the soft bright light,
turning and twisting, their ribbons firmly planted,
like grappling hooks on a mountain of pine
why do you stand so, Christmas tree?
why so still, yet moving?
so calming in the shadows of night
we look to you for joy
reassurance pouring from your warm glow,
your thousands of sparkling diamonds dancing,
all joining together in one perfect shine
a heavenly crystal you are
a strong cracked base decorated with the marks of time,
holds the shimmering body tall,
steadily upright the symbol stands,
un-stirring and motionless in the wildness of the dark
why do you shine so, Christmas tree?
what secrets do you hold?
you teach us well,
you show your light
you unfold to us lessons of love
unfailing and unbroken by the harshness of the world,
oh tower, standing strong,
undimmed by hate,
untouched by greed,
and shunning to the false realities of time
peace and life are your stronghold,
your motto, “good will toward men”,
you teach us well, oh Christmas tree,
show us your perfect glow
a shining star you hold up high,
un-shaking and firm you share its truth,
your goal is final and resolute,
‘the message” you cease to proclaim
oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree,
we crumble at your base,
teach us love,
show us life,
bring truth to all who gaze,
breathing in your endless shine.

This is so poignant, Laura and I'm so happy I came across it on the night before Christmas Eve...I will enjoy our tree even MORE than I already do...
