Abstract

I've been studying different art eras and styles in school.
I've done Impressionist, Renaissance, and now I'm working on ABSTRACT.
I used to absolutely hate abstract art. HATE it. I thought it was completely pointless and kind-of creepy. But now that I've looked into it more...I understand what it's all about.

Abstract art is a way to express the feelings of oneself. It doesn't merely portray a weird image of who-knows-what (as it sometimes does ;), but a glance into the personality of the artist, and some understanding of what they're feeling inside.

From what a person creates or enjoys in abstract art...gives you an idea of their personality >>>

I (now) actually LOVE several types of abstract art.
But others I just think are a little freaky...

I really like these: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I could drown in this image all day.

 This is almost hypnotizing...

 Rich and colorful

I'm falling into the flow here...

 Mysterious...

 This is very amazing...

I'm still not sure if I like this or not...it's interesting. Kinda like glass.

 I'm seeing stars...very relaxing stars.

 ............"sigh of complete wonder".....

 Floating in a black sea.

 Fiery waves

This really fascinates me...like, to the point of amazement.

****************************************************

These....I absolutely despise:

 Very odd...

I feel like I'm looking through the eyes of a snake...

 EW! YUCK! GROSS!
.....I don't like it.

 Strange...

 ??????????.....

 Freaky...

 Boring...

 Unnatural...

 What's the point?...

What I've learned:
Everyone has a unique style, and they should each be respected....but dull colors, plain shapes, and strangely demented figures are not my own.

  1. Lol, I like most of the ones you don't! Except for the exception of the gross one, that's just nasty! Lol. I never thought about abstract art that way! Now that I think about it, it's very interesting. I used to think, "My two-year-old sister could have done that!", but you're right.

  3. I'm with Claire...I actually enjoyed a few of the ones on your "icky" list...a couple of them look as though they'd make nice country kitchen placemats! LOL
I'm glad that you seem to be enjoying your art studies, Laura.
